Blizzard Entertainment held the Diablo 4 Server Slam over the past weekend in order to further stress test the servers and give players access to the various changes implemented to classes as a result of feedback received from previous closed and open betas. Fans were quick to voice their concerns and frustrations over the fan-favourite Necromancer class, which was hit with a nasty nerf and appeared to go off without a hitch in regards to the Server Slam's server tests. However, the Server Slam appeared to go off without a hitch in regard to its server tests.
According to Blizzard, the Necromancer was the most chosen class in Diablo 4's open beta, making its popularity among players unquestionable. Since the Necromancer was the most chosen class, the Sorcerer was the second most chosen class. After the open beta, Blizzard provided an explanation of the various buffs and nerfs that will be applied to each buy D4 gold in the forthcoming Server Slam, which players were able to test out. Most notable among them was the Necromancer, which was buffed in all the wrong ways and received nerfs.
Complaints about the Necromancer class being nerfed have quickly spread across the internet since the Server Slam began. The buy D4 gold gives players the ability to essentially call upon armies of the undead to fight alongside them or to use the corpse explosions caused by defeated foes to cause significant area-of-effect damage. Fans were not pleased with the way Blizzard implemented the changes to the Necromancer, who is now not even available as a glass cannon option. Unfortunately for Blizzard, the fans were not happy. It's just a piece of glass.
The most common complaint concerned the Necromancer's summoned skeletons, which had a significantly lower health threshold than normal. Players have reported that it only takes a couple of hits to kill a skeleton in the game, meaning that they don't even get the chance to attack or deal damage. Even skeletons with shields, which should be able to take a few hits before being destroyed, can be destroyed by the area-of-effect attacks that enemies use.
It would appear that the Druid is also affected by this problem, as opposed to the Necromancer Diablo 4 gold for sale being the only one. One player mentioned that this change affects not only necro minions but all minions and summons, making them die 75% more quickly. Even druid wolves are succumbing to their wounds at a rate of one per three to four minutes.
During the open beta for Diablo 4, summoned minions were able to easily tank and deal a moderate amount of damage to foes before they were brought down. This allowed the Necromancer to hang back and chart out a path of bloody corpse explosions in their wake. It was a pretty good balance of ranged attacks, reliance on a summons, and smart use of the environment, which made the Necromancer an option that was perfectly viable and extremely fun for many players.
Unfortunately, the recent changes made to the Necromancer will remain in place when the full version of the game is released one month from now unless Blizzard makes some additional last-minute adjustments. Having said that, there were a lot of complaints raised about the nerfs that were applied to each class, although the Necromancer was brought up a great deal more frequently than the others.
UPDATE: Diablo manager Rod Fergusson recently stated that he has heard the complaints about the Necromancer Nerfs, and Blizzard is currently working to rebalance the class. This information was provided in response to a question about whether or not Blizzard is aware of the complaints.
