Even after Epic Games acquired Psyonix, the Rocket League logo hasn't undergone much of a transformation, despite the fact that the car football game has been around for years. Any person who enjoys racing games, football (soccer), or video games (or all three!) will recognize the Rocket League logo immediately. Okay, so it may not be iconic, but it is definitely displayed on the icon for the video game that is displayed on the screen of my Nintendo Switch. Anyway, enough with the childish humor.

Psyonix and Epic Games' free-to-play multiplayer game features a number of different design options, and our mission is to educate any aspiring graphic designers who may be reading this about those options. For all of you fans of the vehicular ball-scoring game Rocket League, we also have Rocket League codes, information on the best car in Rocket League, and Rocket League wallpapers.

In any case, let's talk about typography. Rocket League Logo 2014The original Rocket League logo makes me think of the British television show Robot Wars, which is about people with an interest in mechanics building brutal killer robots and pitting them against each other. I like it. Here we see the car below a wraparound font that has a slightly cartoonish quality to it. It's pretty chill, but I see some Microsoft Word art in there.

2015 version of the Rocket League logoThe Rocket League logo underwent a change to a pseudo-Futura font in 2015, coinciding with the introduction of a football team crest that featured a car driving through it. This change, like everything else in graphic design, prioritized simplicity. It is daring, despite the fact that it lacks a bit of personality.

The logo for Rocket League in 2020 By the year 2020, Epic Games will have full ownership of Rocket League, just as they do now. The football crest has been removed from the logo, and it is now used on its own, alongside seasonal changes and other elements. The name is still present in all press materials, appearing as prominently as ever, and its colour shifts to reflect the various happenings within the game.

Here it is, the Rocket League logo in its various incarnations throughout the years. Check out our buying guide for portable gaming consoles for more information, and use it to select the most appropriate technology for the task at hand.
